HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF GRAMMAR

The title of my blog "Hogwarts School of Grammar" comes from "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry". Hogwarts is the school that Harry Potter and his friends attend. Harry and his friends are also the theme of my blog.  There are seven novels about them and their adventures, all written by Joanne K. Rowling.

Harry lost his parents when he was one year old. They were killed by a wicked wizard called Lord Voldemort, actually he wanted to kill Harry because he was told that Harry would be his greatest enemy when grown up. Baby Harry´s mother Lily Potter protected him with her life, which is very strong magic and which is also the reason why Lord Voldemort could not kill Harry. He tried it anyway, that gave Harry his famous scar and because the spell backfired at the Lord he was very weakened for a long time.

Harry grew up at his aunt and uncles house, not knowing that he is a wizard. On his eleventh birthday he received an invitation letter to Hogwarts from Professor Dumbledore.  In Hogwarts he meets his best friends Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, they experience a lot of thrilling and fascinating adventures together. They protect the Philosopher´s Stone from being used by Lord Voldemort to come back from the almost dead, they stop Tom Riddle from opening the Chamber of Secrets again. They also help the Prisoner of Azkaban, who turns out to be Harry´s godfather,  to escape from the authorities. Harry wins the Goblet of Fire but he can not prevent Lord Voldemort from coming back. Harry, Hermione and Ron learn about the Order of the Phoenix and fight alongside its members against the Death Eaters. In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince he goes on a quest together with Professor Dumbledore to find and destroy all of the Horcruxes, which are items that protect the life of Lord Voldemort. In the last book Harry becomes the owner of all three deathly Hallows, which makes him powerful enough to kill Lord Voldemort and safe the wizard world.

I read all seven books when I was in fourth grade and when I finished one book I immediately went to the library in order to get the next one because I was so drawn to the fascinating story. In my personal opinion the books are better than the movies since you can imagine the wizard world how you want it to be.

I also think that it is great literature for children. Or maybe young teenagers, since you have to read 4,224  pages to finish all novels. The books teach you a lot for example Harry, who lost his parents had to overcome foremost that loss and also bullying by his cousin and other children. It teaches you, that no matter your background you can become whatever or whoever you want. Also that you have to work together with friends in order to achieve something.  Furthermore that there are many setbacks in your life, for example when Harry meets his godfather he thinks he can live with him instead of his uncle and aunt but he gets killed. Or Professor Dumbledore who is a great help to Harry is being killed when Harry needs him the most.

I can only recommend reading the novels about Harry Potter since there are many more morals for children and grown ups in the books.
